Biography

Dr. David L. McCollum is a Senior Scientist and Principal Technical Leader in the Energy Systems and Climate Analysis Group at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). His main fields of scientific interest include techno-economic analysis of advanced energy and transport technologies and the development and application of energy-economic systems (integrated assessment) models for scenario analysis. His research attempts to inform national, regional, and global energy and environmental policies on matters related to, among others, electrification, low-carbon transport, sustainable development goals, and financing needs for the energy system transformation. Dr. McCollum currently serves as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow (remote, part-time) at Imperial College London with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Technical Support Unit (TSU - Working Group III) for the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6). Before joining EPRI, he was a Senior Research Scholar with the Energy (ENE) Program at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria, where he led activities employing the MESSAGEix-GLOBIOM integrated assessment framework.
