Adelle Monteblanco

A sociologist, educator, and writer, Dr. Adelle Dora Monteblanco is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University. Adelle studies reproductive environmental health with the aim to improve birth outcomes and create healthy communities. Her current applied research focuses on the deadliest meteorological hazard: extreme heat. The climate crisis will exacerbate extreme heat exposure to a large portion of the global population and there is growing evidence that extreme heat exposure can increase the risk of adverse birth outcomes such as preterm birth. In response, Adelle’s research aims to prepare maternal health workers and pregnant women for heat hazards.
