Biography
Dr. Donner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geological and Geophysical Sciences and Program in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at Princeton University. He is also a scientist at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) of NOAA. His main scientific interest is climate, with emphasis on clouds and their role in the Earth's radiation balance. He has a B.S. in atmospheric sciences from the University of Michigan and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago. Dr. Donner has distinguished himself in a broad range of professional activities as a publishing scientist, advisory of graduate students; editor of journals and member of advisory and review panels. His service to UCAR includes membership on the UCAR Members' Membership Committee (1993-1996), member of the Community Climate Model Advisory Panel (1989-1993), member of the Climate System Model Atmospheric Model Working Group (1996-present) and member of the Board of Trustees since 1997. He has been active in the Global Energy and Water Experiment (GEWEX) and the First International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP).
