Richard Pearson

Richard Pearson is a postdoctoral fellow at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Richard's research falls principally within the fields of biogeography and spatial ecology, with a key focus being the development and application of species' distribution modeling approaches. Richard completed his PhD at the University of Oxford, UK, in 2004. His doctoral thesis focused on the evaluation of modeling approaches (bioclimate envelope models and dispersal simulations) for studying the potential impacts of climate change and habitat fragmentation on the distribution of species. The main focus of Richard's current work is to test and apply distribution modeling approaches for helping to identify new areas of endemism in Madagascar, and to contribute towards our understanding of the evolutionary history of the island's biodiversity.
