Biography
Wood works in the areas of hydroclimatology with an emphasison land atmospheric interactions, terrestrial remote sensing, and hydrologic impacts from climate change. His modelingfocuses on the terrestrial water and energy balances andfluxes over a range of spatial and temporal scales, and hisremote-sensing research focuses on estimating the hydrologicand energetic states of the terrestrial system and on validatingsatellite retrievals on land surface states. These modeling andremote-sensing activities are complemented through severalfield experiments in the U.S. and Canada. Wood is a Fellowof the American Geophysical Union and of the AmericanMeteorological Society. He has received the Robert E. HortonAward from AGU and was awarded the AMS 2001 Robert E.Horton Lectureship. His research funding comes primarilyfrom NASA, NOAA (Office of Global Programs), and NSF.
